FEEP 1. n. The soft bell of a socially acceptable display terminal (not a VT-52!). 2. v. To generate the noise of a display terminal's bell. TTY's do not feep. Syn. "FWEEP", "BLEEP", "BEEP", or just about anything suitably onomatopoetic. The term "BREEDLE" is sometimes heard at MIT-SAIL, where the terminal feepers are not particularly "soft"; they sound more like the musical equivalent of sticking out ones tongue.

The feeper on a VT-52 has also been compared to the sound of a '52 Chevy stripping its transmission.
