Free As A Dove
Michael Pinder

One day I asked aloud, Amidst the dark confusion I asked where could be found the answer to our problems? And then out of the dark, a voice was saying, "Listen" Listen to your heart We are all wise within

And only you Only you can change the way you are And only you can find your morning start Through the day while you're working, Do your hands feel like clay? In the night when you're loving Do you give your love away? Or save it for a rainy day?

Only you, only you can change the way you feel And only you can beat the karmic wheel Through the day when you're thinking Do you know who you are? In the night while you're dreaming Do you know where you are? Is your home a distant star?

Keep your head wide open Do not fall for the same old things that you did before

This world's cold Religions they'll lead you anywhere But the secret door On your second floor

This time around, you've got to see from the highest mountain And then you'll find you've got to feel like the depths of the sea

All light and sound is perpetual motion If you understand then one day you'll be free Free as a dove

Two stories I heard in India many years ago and ;-) some of the language has been changed in order to communicate with a larger audience.

Have and Have Not, A Different Level

Two elder gentlemen, one hundred three (103) years of age, who were friends since childhood, die at the same exact time.

One man spent his entire lifetime in a Whorehouse and the other man spent his entire lifetime in a Monastery.

They arrive at the 'Pearly Gates' of Heaven and are greeted by the Gatekeeper a.k.a. "Saint Peter".

The Gatekeeper says to the man who spent his life in the Whorehouse, "Go through the gates and sit next to the Supreme Programmer," a.k.a. God.

The man who spent his life in the Monastery begins to think to himself, "If my friend gets to sit next to the Supreme Programmer, then my reward must be incredible."

Almost as if 'minds can be read' the Gatekeeper says, "You, yeah YOU the Monk, see that broom? Well grab it, go through the gates, and start sweeping the streets of Heaven.

The Monk is shocked and starts grumbling to himself as he walks toward the broom.

The Gatekeeper says, "Do you want to know why you are going to spend eternity sweeping the streets of Heaven?" and the monk nods yes.

"It is because, during his entire lifetime on Earth, your friend in the Whorehouse constantly thought of the Supreme Programmer [God] and how great it was YOU were able to serve (sic) hir, night and day"

"Whereas, during your entire life in the Monastery, all you could think about was sex, and how much fun your friend in the Whorehouse was having getting laid, smoking dope, drinking beer, listening to rock music, dancing, getting high, and ... how much YOU wanted to do what he was doing.

You never, ever, thought of the Supreme Programmer [God] or the glories of your Service, at all!"

"Now, you tell me, who should sit in the seat next to the Supreme Programmer [God], and who should be sweeping streets?"

The man picked up the broom, walked through the gates, and started sweeping the streets of Heaven.

The Genie

There were two very wealthy gentlemen who were friends and had the best of everything.

A problem occurred with one man because he was competitive and his friend always had something better.

No matter how hard he tried, he could never catch up with the material wealth and style of his friend.

One day they are having coffee and the man who has the 'best stuff' says to his friend, "Why do you appear to be so sad?"

The man tells him about his envy and his friend responds, "Is that what this is about? If it is, I can fix this problem for you by giving you my Genie, who will make your every wish come true."

The man says, "Give me your Genie!"

His friend gives him the Genie and departs saying, "There is one thing I failed to mention, You must keep the Genie busy, or... the Genie will kill you," and asks, "do you still want the Genie?"

The man thinks for a moment and yells from a distance, "YES !"

A few moments later he hears the Genie say, "Master, you know what the deal is, if you do not give me something to do, I will kill you."

The man says, "Genie, build me a large beautiful house; the likes of which, the world has never seen."

The Genie says, "Yes, Master," claps his hands twice, and the house appears.

The man says, "Genie, fill the house with furniture; the likes of which, the world has never seen."

The Genie says, "Yes Master," claps his hands twice, and the furniture appears.

The man says, "Genie, build me the largest dinner table in the world, make the plates gold, utensils platinum, drinking vessels crystal, decorate them with the finest jewels, and serve me a meal fit for Kings and Emperors; the likes of which, the world has never seen.

The Genie says, "Yes Master," claps his hands twice, and all of the luxuries and a feast appear.

Just as the man is about to put some food in his mouth, the Genie says, "What next Master?" and the man continues to request item after item from the Genie for fear of being killed.

Two weeks pass. The man has not eaten, slept, bathed, or properly used a toilet. There is a pile of 'stuff' surrounding him, that fills his entire property and reaches into the heavens.

As he is about to fall over from exhaustion, and lack of food and water, he notices his friend, the one who gave him the Genie, walking towards him.

His friend says, "You look horrible! I gave you the Genie because I thought it would make you happy?"

The man replies, as the Genie prods him for more tasks, "I can not do anything except wish for more 'stuff."

His friend replies, "Maybe you have not considered or thought this out well and perhaps you should look deeper into getting the Genie to work for you, rather than you working for the Genie.", and departs.

The man thinks for a moment, a smile appears on his lips, and he says, "Genie, build me the tallest flagpole; the world has never seen."

The Genie says, "Yes, Master", claps his hands twice, and the flagpole appears.

The man says, "Genie, I want you to slowly climb to the top of the flagpole, and when you reach the top, I want you to slowly climb back to the bottom, and when you reach the bottom, I want you to climb back to the top, and keep doing this until I tell you to stop.

Before you start, I want you to get rid of all of this 'stuff', prepare me a bath, set me a table with healthy food, and 'fluff me up' a comfortable bed."

The Genie says, "Yes, Master," claps his hands twice, fills the requests and starts slowly climbing up and down the flagpole.

Two weeks pass. The man has become healthy again, the majority of 'stuff' is gone, and the Genie is still climbing up and down the flagpole. It is at this point he hears the Genie call out to him.

"Master, I will become your perfect servant and do anything and everything you request of me, if you would stop making me climb up and down this flagpole."

The man asks the Genie if there are 'any tricks, deceptions, or denials involved' and the Genie assures him there are none and that he will NEVER kill him.

The man says,"Genie, you can stop climbing up and down the pole."

The Genie thanks the man and becomes his 'most perfect' servant.

You'll Make It Through ~ Michael Pinder ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeWEwkUuxDY

If you're caught in darkness Holding on for dear life Remember where you started and how you knew what was right And now if you're lonely, and the feeling ain't right

Hold on, don't give in You'll make it through the night Hold on You'll make it through this life

Living all together is the biggest challenge ever Someone's gonna come and set you right Spread your wings and love will guide your flight Get those good things into your life You've got the real thing, and only love can bring An ending to these troubled times

If your heart is heavy And you live in fear There's a time to be lonely And a time to get clear Let these words we're singing Reach your inner ear

Hold on, don't give in You'll make it through the night Hold on You'll make it through this life
